Summer Time is officially here! And it’s definitely HOT out there! Construction workers are especially susceptible to the effects of extreme heat. The headlines are all over the place “Deadly heat wave hits southwest”, “Intense Heatwave Kills Four, Feeds Southwest Wildfires”, “Heat wave produces record temperatures”.
What can you do to protect yourself? First of all, take a break and stop by the SUHBA office for a free cold drink! *see below for details
Next, you must realize in Southern Utah, we’re particularly used to seeing temperatures in the triple digits. But sometimes we still don’t respect it. Did you know most heat-related deaths investigated by OSHA involved workers who were on the job for three days or less? Training is KEY! In 2014 alone, 2,630 workers suffered from heat illness and 18 died from heat stroke and related causes on the job.
Here are some resources for you as you educate yourself and your workers on heat safety:

Remember, your invitation to stop by the SUHBA office still stands for a cold beverage on the house! #WeLoveOurMembers #RespectTheHeat
