Since 2024, the Southern Utah Home Builders Association (SUHBA) has partnered with the Washington County School District and Career Tech High School to host Careers in Construction Day. This interactive event is designed to introduce middle school students to the many career opportunities available to them within the construction industry.

400 local 7th graders from 8 different schools rotate through zones where they get to experience hands-on exhibits hosted by builders, subcontractors, suppliers, and other trade professionals. Students are able to try their hand at real construction activities — from framing and concrete to painting, electrical, plumbing, design, and more — giving them a firsthand look at the skills and creativity that goes into building our beautiful Southern Utah communities.

SUHBA is proud to lead this initiative that not only supports local workforce development but also helps students discover the value and satisfaction of a career in construction.
